Meet the Team
Creating great boats requires great people.

DesignerNick has been kayaking since his father built a kit kayak in the early 1970’s. Upon graduating with an engineering degree in 1986, he decided he needed a sea kayak. Being low on funds, he designed and built his own. Since then he hasn’t looked back. He started Guillemot Kayaks in 1993 to market his designs primarily to the DIY boatbuilder crowd.
Nick sea kayaks all year long in New England from the tide races of Fishers Island Sound up to the Bold Coast of Maine. These dynamic waters have been his muse as he developed, designed and refined his high performance kayaks and other boats.
His designs are renowned for enabling paddlers to be more confident and capable on the water. With a kayak in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, the beauty of his designs matches their performance.

John’s a family guy, a boatbuilder, and a certified saltwater junkie.
A prolific builder, marine trades began in 2014 at Chesapeake Light Craft in Annapolis, MD. During that time, he served many roles: sales, purchasing, production manager, and finally, CEO. Whether as an instructor or builder, John is responsible for sending well over ninety handmade boats into the world.
As the owner of Riverview Boatworks, the range has evolved. Whether it’s a wooden boat, high-tech composite parts for outside brands, or world-class watercraft for Bold Coast Boats, one thing remains: a fierce ambition to build an experience worthy of the memories they’ll create.
